I have started a blog to post student work and pose questions for students to answer. So far it has gone very well. I am struggling with how to get students to respond appropriately (ie, not say "Wow, this blog is cool")

I have created a blog and have the key elements in place to begin discussing open response problems with my AP Calculus students. The next step I have to take is to get email addresses to invite students to the blog. Once everyone is invited, the blog should come into its own.

I have set up a blog for Chorus, in part because it is hard to connect with each student in each class. I can post questions, thoughts, and quotes online and allow students to respond on their own time.

I haven't publicized the address to students as of yet, so I don't have any more information at this time. I'm hoping it will allow me to build better relationships with kids who might not be so willing to speak up in class, but can respond electronically.

I have created my first blog - Hip Hip Hooray! It was not difficult because your directions were nice and clear. Thanks.
I'm looking forward to getting my students started and seeing how it goes!
Thank you,
Judy

I am starting my blog for both the Hosmer and Lowell Libraries....I know MUCH less about this than I previously thought. I am also wondering how to get students to respond to posts best... This is a very helpful course. Thanks Mr. Gould and Ms. Sudbay!

I've started a writing/math blog for my ESL students. I'm hoping they can use this blog to easily explore and access information regarding math vocabulary (among other things) and will then be more able to apply it to their own learning.

I'm trying to figure out the best information to include and how to make the layout and activity assignments as easy to follow as possible. I don't want to make it too jumbled, but I also want to make it fun and interesting. Any thoughts?! Here's my blog for people to check out, if you have any ideas let me know! http://eldwritingwms.blogspot.com
Thanks!

my blog is now set up, I just need to get the email addresses of the students in my class to invite them in. I am also thinking of setting up a blog for the Pathways to China trip for the students who have been to hina to exchange information with students who will be going in April. This blog could also be useful to the parents who will have many questions about the trip. (China blog...idea credited to Judy Powers)

I have my blog set up for both my Beginner Middle school ESL class and for my advanced reading class. I am struggling with how to get my 8th graders hooked into using the blog and eventually getting them to respond to each other.

I have created a blog that I linked to my teacher web page for the WHS math lab. The math lab blog will have some fun math podcasts and sites to explore.

Well, I was able to get the blog happily in place and most of the options and controls figured out. I've already invited students to my blog--now I have to get them to post. Today, I added a poll question and a new posting that contains a link to a NY Times article (thanks Dave Passeggio). I am hopeful that this first attempt at getting students to comment on my posing is both helpful and interesting to them.
Thank you, Ms. Sudbay, for your help today.

Thanks for listing Podictionary as a podcast to check out.

Could I ask you to link instead to www.podictionary.com where all the back episodes plus search tools are available?

Thanks
